Precautions for Operation and Maintenance of Gear Motor

After the geared motor leaves the factory, it is generally stipulated that there is a running-in period of about 200 hours, which is stipulated by the technical characteristics of the gear reducer at the initial stage of use. The running-in period is an important link to ensure the normal operation of the gear reducer, reduce the failure rate, and prolong its service life. The technical personnel of the gear reducer manufacturer give the following precautions:

1. Many operating errors

Due to insufficient understanding of the structure and performance of the geared motor (it is a new operator), it is easy to cause misoperation due to operational errors, and even cause mechanical accidents and stability accidents.

2. Looseness occurs.

Newly machined and assembled parts have deviations in geometry and matching dimensions. In the initial stage of use, they are affected by alternating loads such as shock and vibration, as well as factors such as heat and deformation, coupled with excessive wear and tear, which can easily loosen the originally fastened parts.

3. Fast wear

Due to the influence of the processing, assembly and debugging of new gear reducer parts, the smaller the contact area of the mating surface, the greater the allowable torque. When the gear reducer is running, the concave and convex parts on the surface of the parts mesh with each other and rub against each other, and the shed metal chips continue to participate in the friction as abrasives, accelerating the wear of the mating surface. Therefore, during the running-in period, it is easy to cause the parts (that is, the mating surface) to wear, and the wear speed is too fast. At this time, if the load is too large, it may cause damage to the parts and cause early failure.

4. A leak occurs

Due to loose parts, vibration and heat of the gear reducer, there will be leakage at the sealing surface of the gear reducer and the pipe joint; some defects such as castings are not easy to find during assembly and debugging, but these defects are exposed due to vibration and shock during operation , manifested as oil leakage (seepage). Therefore, occasional leaks can occur during break-in.

5. Poor lubrication

Because the fit clearance of newly assembled parts is small, and due to assembly and other reasons, it is not easy for lubricating oil (grease) to form a uniform oil film on the friction surface to prevent wear. Thereby reducing the lubrication rate and causing early abnormal wear of machine parts. In severe cases, the mating friction surface will be scratched or stuck, resulting in failure.

Gear reducer maintenance precautions

1. Hand over the gear reducer equipment for maintenance according to regulations;

2. Turn off the power supply of electrical equipment, and put up the sign of “someone is repairing, please do not turn off”;

3. When disassembling the geared motor parts, they need to be placed neatly and covered with the top cover

4. The holes left by the equipment should be blocked in time to prevent falling sundries;

5. If a crane or other overweight machinery is used for gear reducer maintenance, it needs to be carefully inspected and guided by a special person, and no overweight items can be left on the top of the equipment;

6. After the maintenance of the geared motor is completed, carefully check the parts that need to be closed. Prevent tools and other sundries from remaining in the equipment, and clean up the site after the work is completed.
